Summary:
Twenty-two-year-old Scott Pilgrim may not have a job, but rocking the bass for his band, Sex Bob-omb, is a tough job unto itself. When Scott locks eyes with Ramona Flowers, he knows she’s the girl he wants to grow old with. But Ramona has some serious baggage; her supercharged exes rue the thought of her being with another man, and they’ll crush any guy who gives her a second glance. Now, in order to win Ramona’s heart, Scott will do battle with everyone from vegan-powered rock gods to sinister skateboarders, never losing sight of his gorgeous goal as he pummels his way to victory.
When this movie first came out I thought it would be a huge hit. I went to see it for my birthday (since it came out the day after) and fell in love instantly! The movie came out on DVD and I rushed to the store. I thought this movie would fly off the shelves, but it didn’t. I asked my friends and none of them even knew this movie! Now, three years later, I still get a, “Huh?” when I bring up this movie. It’s tragic!
Scott Pilgrim (Michael Cera) is a local Canadian guy who’s only purpose is to play the guitar…and date. When he meets Ramona Flowers (Mary Elizabeth Winstead) he believes he’s found his one true love, but that love comes at a cost…seven evil costs, to be exact.
Seven evil exes, so little time. Scott finds himself in a tournament to win Ramona’s heart; six men (and one woman ;D) his opponents. Each battle is more intense than the last, all laced with gut-wrenching comedy and video game graphics and antics that will appease even the classic gamer. The rules of this world are out of wack, making situations funnier and funnier as time goes on. Each fight has an element of classic gaming, from the infamous echoing K.O. to gaining an extra life as reward, as well as kickass music often played by the characters themselves rather than just background sound. This movie is perfect for all gamers/music fanatics/action lovers!
At #6 on my Underrated Movie Playlist, Scott Pilgrim VS. The World is a rollercoaster of hilarity, action, and tasteful music!
